How to Sell on Self-Service Auctions

A clear guide to setting up your sale, tagging items, managing pickups, and receiving your payout.

📊

Lower Fees on Higher-Value Items

Fees are calculated per item in tiers, so you keep more money on vehicles, tools, and valuable pieces.

We don't charge high, flat rates on everything you sell. Instead, our platform fee drops as an individual item's price increases:

Item Price Portion Fee Rate Typical Items
First $500.00 ($0 to $500) 15.00% Box lots, kitchenware, hand tools, small furniture.
Next $2,000.00 ($500.01 to $2,500) 11.25% Electronics, jewelry, power equipment, fine antiques.
Next $7,500.00 ($2,500.01 to $10,000) 7.50% Trailers, riding mowers, golf carts, older cars.
Amount Above $10,000.00 3.75% Vehicles, tractors, heavy equipment.
Example: If an item sells for $6,500.00, you pay 15% on the first $500 ($75.00), 11.25% on the next $2,000 ($225.00), and only 7.50% on the remaining $4,000 ($300.00). The total fee is $600.00 (an effective rate of just 9.23%), and you take home $5,900.00.

When Do You Receive Your Payout?

Clear expectations on payment clearing and direct deposits.

All winning buyers pay online in advance through Stripe. Because card payments take standard processing time to clear, payouts follow a 3-step timeline:

Step 1: Item Pickup

Enter Pickup PIN

When the buyer picks up their items, enter their 4-digit Pickup PIN in your dashboard to release the items from hold.

Step 2: Bank Clearing

2 Business Days

Standard card payments require 2 full business days (excluding weekends and holidays) to settle into cleared funds.

Step 3: Direct Deposit

Bank Transfer

Once funds clear, earnings transfer automatically to the bank account you linked with Stripe Connect.

Bank Processing Time: After the transfer is sent, standard bank direct deposits generally take 1 to 3 business days to appear on your bank statement, depending on your bank.

Creating Your Auction

Click "List an Auction or Liquidation" in your dashboard. Give your auction a clear title and enter pickup notes for buyers. Choose your start date, auction length, and a closing time between 3:00 PM and 9:00 PM local time. Link your bank account through Stripe Connect so payouts transfer directly to you after the sale.

2

Taking Photos & Tagging Items

Use your smartphone to photograph your items on-site (up to 8 photos per item). Write clear titles and mention any damage or wear. Tag items physically with matching lot numbers. On cardboard boxes, masking tape works fine. On finished wood, artwork, and collectibles, always use gentle blue painter's tape to prevent sticky adhesive damage.

3

Publishing & Sharing Your Sale

When your catalog is ready, click "Publish Auction". A quick email verification code will confirm your launch.

Items close staggered 2 minutes apart. If someone bids in the final moments of an item, 3 minutes are automatically added to that item so others can respond. Invoices are generated once all items in the auction have finished closing.

Share your sale link on Facebook, local community groups, and Nextdoor using the share buttons in your auction header to attract nearby buyers.

4

Pickup Day & PIN Verification

Print your pull list from your dashboard to have item numbers handy. When winning buyers arrive during your scheduled pickup hours, have them inspect and load their items. Once they are packed up, ask for their 4-digit Pickup PIN and enter it on your phone or computer to mark items as picked up. All buyer payments are collected online in advance.

5

Handling Item Issues at Pickup

If a buyer spots an unlisted issue (like a chipped corner or broken handle), you can offer a partial discount directly in your dashboard or mark the item for review. The rest of your auction earnings remain completely unaffected and will pay out on schedule.
